Example of creating a discount by period and guest type

This article describes how to create a discount specifically for women valid from March 1st through March 8th.
During this festive week celebrating International Women's Day (from March 1st to March 8th), a 10% discount will be offered exclusively to female guests. The discount should automatically apply at cash register. This promotion is planned to repeat annually. 

Let's proceed with creation:

1. Firstly, add a new guest type called Women in the Guest Types directory.
   
2. Next, set up a special period running from March 1st to March 8th and name it something like 'March 8'. In its properties, specify only date and month since the period isn't limited by year.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. In the Discounts & Markups directory, select Women as the value under Guest Type in the discount's settings.
   
   
4. On the Properties tab of your selected discount, define the schedule applicable to the Restaurant. Select the previously created period named 'March 8'.
   
   
   
5. To ensure automatic application of the discount, it's necessary to assign usage restrictions. In the properties section, indicate limitations based on both guest type and discount validity period.
   

At the cash register terminal, the discount will automatically accrue once Women are chosen within the Guest Type selection area.
