In r_keeper, there is an option to create combo meals—complex dishes consisting of component items. For example, business lunches, full-course dinners, breakfast sets, or any other offers where guests can choose from pre-selected combinations such as salads, soups, main courses, beverages, etc.
Creating a combo meal
To create a new combo meal:
- Go to Menu > Combo Groups
- Right-click on the All group and select New Combo Group. From this group, guests will subsequently be able to choose one of the offered dishes.
- Enter the name, status and save the group
- Create combo items that will link to specific menu items. To do this, on the Combo Items tab, select New Combo Item from the context menu
Fill in the main properties: name, status. Then open the Combo section and specify the Menu item — the item from the menu that the combo element refers to. When adding a menu item, the system will prompt you to copy the name of the dish into the Combo element name field.
For combo, you can use items from the main menu, as well as special items for combo. In the second case, it is recommended to set the price of the item to Not specified.
If you are using Store House and the ingredient norms in your recipes differ between individual sales and combo meals, it is necessary to create a separate menu item specifically for handling combos.
Similarly, create several combo groups. For instance, for the "Business Lunch" combo, create groups named "First Course," "Main Course," and "Drink."
- Go to Menu > Combo Schemes
- Right click on the All group and click New Combo Scheme
- Fill in the main properties: name, status. More about the properties of the combo scheme.
- Add combo groups to the scheme. To do this, go to the Combo Groups tab, right-click on the field and select Add Combo Group from the context menu
- In the window that opens, select one or more combo groups, and then click the OK button.
If necessary, each group can be customized individually, for example, specifying the minimum and maximum number of items that can be ordered in this group. Read more in the article Combo Schemes Directory.
For convenience, you can combine combo groups and combo schemes into sets. For example, in the Combo schemes directory, first create a set of combo schemes, and inside - the combo schemes themselves.- Go to Menu > Menu and create a new menu item — Combo meal. For example, "Business lunch"
Go to the Menu Items tab and right-click on it. Select New Combo Menu Item
Fill in the main properties: name, status. Specify the previously created combo scheme, if necessary, set the price
Save the changes.
Done, the combo meal is created.
Pricing Configuration for Combo Meals
The price of a combo meal can either be fixed or calculated by summing up the prices of its components or menu items.
Price Calculation Options:
Combo Price – Fixed: This price is specified in the dish properties under the Price Additions section.
If menu items from the main menu are used, then in combo groups for each combo item it is necessary to set the price to 0, otherwise the price of the menu items will be added to the price of the combo.- The price is formed from the cost of the combo items. To do this, you must specify the price for the combo item in the Prices section
The table below describes how the price of a combo meal is formed when combining the prices of a combo item and a menu item, and how the price of a combo meal is distributed between its components in the Menu Item Consumption reports.

Minimum price
If you use a minimum price for a menu item, which is usually the cost price of the menu item, then it is impossible to sell this item below the minimum price.
The combo item is a link to a menu item and does not exist as a separate object for the warehouse. It takes the settings from the minimum price, that is, from its standard meal.
There are two options for selling a combo at a price below the minimum:
- Use individual menu items for combos, for which you do not specify minimum prices. Prohibit these items from being sold outside of the combo.
- Do not use a price markup for the combo. Distribute the final price between its groups logically: the higher the cost price, the higher the selling price.
